Italy exports in August 2015 compared to August 2014 increased in volumes for Milk in packings of <= 2 L (+259.0%), Butter (+64.5%), SMP (+23.4%), Cheese (+11.8%) while decreased for Whey Powder (-5.9%), Lactose Pharmaceutical (-16.8%), Milk in packings of > 2 L (-35.6%).
Export of main cheese in August 2015 compared to August 2014 increased in volumes for Pecorino and Fiore Sardo (+55.8%), Grated or powered cheeses (+35.8%), Gorgonzola (+15.0%), Provolone (+12.3%), Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano (+7.6%) while decreased for Asiago, Montasio, Ragusano, Caciocavallo (-1.1%).
The main importers in the first 8 months of 2015 (year over year) were:
For Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano:
- Germany import – accounting for 22% of market share – increased by 1.2%
- USA import – accounting for 14% of market share – increased by 28.8%
For Grated or powered cheeses:
- France import – accounting for 29% of market share – increased by 6.8%
- Germany import – accounting for 28% of market share – increased by 56.7%
For Pecorino and Fiore Sardo:
- USA import – accounting for 63% of market share – increased by 22%
- Germany import – accounting for 8% of market share – increased by 1.5%
For Gorgonzola:
- Germany import – accounting for 23% of market share – increased by 8.8%
- France import – accounting for 21% of market share – increased by 1.6%
